Three Fun Summer Projects

1. The summer photo theme is barns. You may take pictures from Memorial Day to Labor Day of barns in any way, included in a landscape, close up of any part of a barn, aerial shot of a barn if you are in a plane or balloon….Etc. Select 10 of your favorites and bring them to our first meeting on Sept. 3rd on a CD. (Please label your CDs with your name!!) Give the CD to Marcia or Jim. A slide show of everyone’s photos will be shown in October.

2. Exercise in composition. Find something you enjoy…. a flower in your garden, a building, a person, etc. and take a bunch of shots using different angles, lighting, close up, far away, etc. to see how many different ways you shoot the same subject. (on a rainy or hot and humid day, select something indoors like your coffee cup or a potted plant.)

3. Exercise in cropping. Take a photo that has a lot going on in the picture, a landscape, an event, etc. See how many ways you can crop it to make different photos. Take full view, then crop. Example: Landscape. More sky, less field ~ More field, less sky ~ just the barn ~ just the cows ~ just the farm house ~ cows including the barn ~ cows with house in background. Just crop, save picture, crop differently and save that one. You get the idea. All new pictures must be from the original. Different views only from cropping not from different shots. (that was exercise #2)

Both of the exercises will be presented on Sept. 3rd like the scavenger hunt. (see below). Our first meeting will share and discuss these exercises after introducing the board members and the programs for the year.

On a white mat board (foam core), place one full view 5x7 print with the new views as 4x6 prints around or beside it.

PS….the dollar store has foam board for mounting!
